Weekend closure of Interstate 494 in Bloomington begins December 6
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Starting at 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 through 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will close westbound I-494 between Interstate 35W and Highway 100 in Bloomington. All ramps along westbound I-494 between Highway 100 and I-35W will also be closed starting 8 p.m. Fri, December 6 through 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9.
Motorists traveling on westbound on I-494 can use northbound I-35W to westbound Highway 62 to southbound Highway 100 to westbound I-494 as a detour.
MnDOT crews will also close eastbound Interstate 494 between Highway 100 and Highway 77 beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 through 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. All ramps along eastbound I-494 between Highway 100 and Highway 77 will also be closed starting 8 p.m. Fri, Dec. 6 through 10 a.m. Sat, Dec. 7.
Motorists traveling on eastbound I-494 can use northbound Highway 100 to eastbound Highway 62 to southbound Highway 77 to eastbound I-494 as a detour through 10 a.m. Saturday Dec. 7.
Then at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, MnDOT crews will open eastbound I-494 between I-35W and Highway 77. However, eastbound I-494 between Highway 100 and I-35W will remain closed through 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9. During this closure, motorists can use northbound Highway 100 to eastbound Highway 62 to southbound I-35W to eastbound I-494 as a detour.
This weekend closure is necessary to allow crews to shift traffic back to regular lanes for the winter and complete striping work along I-494.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slowdown in work zones where workers are present.
