Base Construction

    1. Obtain completed Certification of Aggregates and Granular Materials (form G&B-104) from the contractor.
    2. Prior to placing the base, verify that the subgrade has been constructed to the required grade and cross-section.  Subgrade is to be free of ruts, soft spots, large stones, and excess dust.
    3. Monitor placement operation.  Ensure the Contactor has required Compactors for the compacted lift thickness.
    4. Check depth and yield (ton per station) to ensure uniform coverage.
    5. Obtain samples for testing (graduation, moisture, compaction compliance., etc.) as required and perform the necessary tests.
    6. Ensure compaction, test rolling, and cross-section meets requirements before placing next lift.
    7. Where weight tickets are required; collect, check, and initial them for each load as they arrive at site.
    8. Maintain records including hours, location, lift thickness, test results, quantity, yield, and other events or information having bearing on work.
