Lane closures

5 a.m. Mon, June 16 through early August
  • Cedar Ave. is reduced to one lane in each direction under the I-94 bridges
5 a.m. Mon, April 7 through mid-August
  • I-94 is reduced to two lanes in both directions between 11th Ave. South and Franklin Ave. Southeast
5 a.m. Mon, March 31 through mid-August
  • The following ramps are reduced to one lane:
    • Southbound I-35W to eastbound Hwy 55
    • Westbound Hwy 55 to South 7th St.

Ramp closures

9 p.m. Fri, June 13 through mid-August

Trail closure

5 a.m. Mon, June 16 through mid-July

Upcoming

Information about upcoming traffic impacts will be posted as details become available. Motorists can expect lane and ramp closures during construction. Motorists should be aware that some nearby construction projects will have overlapping traffic impacts with the I-94 Minneapolis work. All lanes on I-94 between 11th Ave. South and Franklin Ave. Southeast are expected to reopen to traffic for the Minnesota State Fair from mid-August through Labor Day. Work will resume after Labor Day to complete the removal of crossovers and other items such as signage and lighting.

About this project

We will be doing maintenance and repair work on five bridges along I-94 in Minneapolis. These bridges include:

  • I-94 bridge (Dartmouth Bridge) that spans the Mississippi River
  • Riverside Ave. bridge over I-94
  • I-94 over Cedar Ave.
  • I-94 over the Light Rail Transit (Blue Line)
  • I-94 over Hwy 55/Hiawatha Ave.
