Strategies
The “4 E’s” of safety strategies the Rail Grade Crossing Action Plan will consider and include:
- Engineering: Enhancements to roadway traffic control, railroad warning safety devices, and physical modifications to roadways and pathways.
- Education: Messaging to promote safe driver and pedestrian behaviors at crossings and near railroad tracks.
- Emergency services: Route coordination with emergency services.
- Enforcement: Coordination with local authorities to uphold crossing rules.
