Intelligent Compaction (IC) and Paver Mounted Thermal Profiling (PMTP)
- Pre-Construction:
- (File sharing between Department and Contractor) Send the AMT unit the e-mails of Contractors and Department staff requiring access to the project’s files in MnDOT’s Managed File Transfer (MFT) site.
- Verify that MnDOT surveys set temporary controls points for Contractor’s site calibration. Provide coordinate information for control points to the Contractor.
- Use a rover to spot check alignment file for verification that the provided centerline matches the in-place centerline. Supply the alignment file to the contractor using the MFT as this allows the AMT unit to also have access to this file.
- Use rover to collect stationing (to the nearest foot) for data lots and record these locations in the AMT-106 form.
- In form AMT-106, do not create extra exceptions or additional data lots to address for station equations. Station equation adjustments for data lots are addressed in the Veta software.
- Provide AMT-106 form to Contractor daily using the MFT site. Append the data from each day in the same file. Save file with new date in file name (e.g., 20230703) to document that daily updates were added and provided to Contractor. Add “Final” to final version of AMT-106 form upon completion.
- AMT unit can real-time review data collected by both the IC and PMTP systems, and therefore, contact AMT and bituminous unit for assistance in troubleshooting workmanship issues related to the paving and/or compaction operation (e.g., failing densities).
- Contractor is required to submit Veta project and required forms (AMT-101, AMT-102, AMT-103) within 3 days after start of production and at least 2 non-consecutive days per calendar week using MFT site.
- A monetary deduction of $500 per calendar day will be assessed for submitting the final version of the Veta Project(s) and required forms later than 14-calendar days of completion of the ICT method.
- Notify AMT unit when compaction and/or paving, require IC and/or PMTP is complete.
- The AMT unit will complete the final reviews of the Veta project and forms (AMT-101, AMT-102, AMT-103).
