Storm and Sewer Installation

  1. Review Items 1 - 12 of culvert guide plus the following.
  2. Ensure that manholes and inlets are properly located and oriented.
  3. Check invert elevation and alignment of pipe as installed.
  4. Observe backfill placement to assure adequate compaction without damage to structures.
  5. Generally, determine pay length by measurement of storm sewer in place.
  6. Check contract requirements for mortar, plastering, and curing.
  7. Confirm that castings sit on a full bed of mortar.
  8. Maintain daily records that include weather, trenching, placement, and backfilling information; item, pay length, location, structure numbers, crew, equipment, and other information having relevance to storm and sewer.
