Provides Transportation Alternatives

About the measure
This measure provides an important opportunity to understand how confident the public is in MnDOT's ability to do a good job at providing transportation alternatives to owning a personal vehicle. These data come from MnDOT's Omnibus Public Opinion Survey, which is a public opinion survey of a representative sample of Minnesota’s population conducted every two years.

Statewide Multimodal Transportation Plan: Healthy Equitable Communities

These measures help us gauge how well MnDOT and our partners are doing the following:

  • Making equitable transportation decisions through inclusive and collaborative processes that are supported by data and analysis.

Where we want to go

Recent results indicate that Minnesotans feel MnDOT needs to do a better job of providing alternatives for people without vehicles to access destinations and opportunities. MnDOT is working with partners to improve equitable access by expanding transit, bicycle, and pedestrian networks which increases the range of destinations people can reach without personal vehicles. Equitable access means recognizing that each person uses the transportation system differently and providing the services, resources, and opportunities they need to reach their destinations.
